“THE GUN SHOW”- a play- was performed February 19 in Elk Rapids It is produced by the Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence, of which ANA-MI is a member. There are more performances remaining throughout the state under the sponsorship of other members of the coalition which are February 23 in Grand Rapids, February 27 in Benton Harbor, March 10 in Battle Creek, March 18 in Detroit, and March 19 in Flint.  Go to MichiganCoalitionToPreventGunViolence.org  for details on times and locations.  Admission is free, although a donation of $10 is suggested.

This one-act, one-actor play is non-partisan and centers on the question -"Can we talk about this?" It was written by award-winning playwright E.M. Lewis and tells the story of America’s relationship with guns through the prism of her own personal experiences with brutal honesty and poignant humor and lends itself to discussion.  Jala Jackson is the sole actor in the play and has moved audiences with the intensity of her performance showing the perspectives of gun control and gun rights.  Jala is completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at MSU and those of us in Elk Rapids are sure we’ll see her name in lights someday. Rob Roznowski, Professor in the Department of Theatre at Michigan State University,  is the director.
